UNCONVENTIONAL SOLUTIONS
A cracked ridge beam from heavy snow loads led Recover’s owner, Mark Winterer, to rethink the renovation of his 1,300-square-foot ranch house. Mark decided to gut the house, vault the ceilings, sister the rafters, and replace the shingled roof with a fully adhered TPO membrane to accommodate an extensive green roof. Conservation Technology's anti-slip system holds the green roof on the 4:12 pitched roof without any mechanical fastenings.

Located adjacent to the commuter rail in Winchester, this extensive sedum green roof was built for its soundproofing capabilities, cooling benefits, and general curb appeal.

The project was the recipient of a 2013 Green Roofs for Healthy Cities Award of Excellence, “receiving special recognition for being an outstanding example of how North America’s suburbs can be reshaped with green infrastructure given vision and leadership.”
