INSTALL AND MAINTAIN
Recover converted Boston University’s College of General Studies former smoking deck into a green roof. The space is visible from the 5th and 6th floors of the building and the upper floors of the adjacent College of Fine Arts.
Although not accessible to students and staff, the green roof creates a visual respite in this densely built part of the city, helps dampen noise from the city traffic, and provides a burst of color to the Brutalist building.
As the cedar trees grow in, they will create a privacy screen to shield the generators from view while still allowing them to be accessible to maintenance teams. Throughout the winter, the deep green of the cedars provide a nice contrast to the bright sedum.
