BASEMENT EATERY REIMAGINED
The Casa B living wall transformed a previously unplanted basement dining area into a verdant room bursting with foliage and life. Plants selected were inspired by those native to the restaurant owner's home country of Colombia.
Using a GrO2 Living Wall system, several varieties of low-light leafy tropicals were grown by Plant Connection on Long Island, prior to transportation to Somerville, Mass. Recover built an aluminum panel, bracket, and basin system with integrated automatic drip irrigation to circulate water. Perforated trays enable water to seep down through the soil and penetrate each tray bed, while a series of grow lights promote healthy plant generation and add ambience to the installation.
Misters around the perimeter of the wall ensure that seasonal indoor moisture discrepancies avoid impacting the health of the plants.
