CANOPY GREEN ROOF
Visible from Route 91, the rooftop garden at INSA in Springfield, MA, welcomes visitors with lush cascading trumpet vine and vibrant blooms. Built with lightweight growing media from Omni Ecosystems and dynamic topography, this green roof is a thriving pollinator habitat filled with flowers that enhance biodiversity.
A commitment to long-term maintenance ensures the space evolves and matures beautifully over time. The roof was initially sown with a meadow seed mix interplanted with potted perennials to accelerate the maturity of the meadow ecosystem. We collaborated with the architect to detail an edge condition that supports vegetation along the roof's perimeter without compromising the waterproofing integrity, while also providing delegated design input for the green roof system design, planting plan, integrated metal edge restraint detail, and wall-mounted cable fall protection system
This innovative rooftop integrates sustainable materials and smart irrigation, creating an ecologically vibrant and low-maintenance urban oasis.
