ROOF DECK WITH A VIEW
Located in Boston's historic South End, this three-tiered roof deck adds 800 square feet of outdoor living and plant nursery space to the home.
Recover designed and installed a hybrid roof deck connected by a wide staircase between two levels of the roof. Custom wood details including a hand-crafted ship’s ladder, hardwood and steel feature wall, hardwood steps, and tree deck created a visual and physical flow between each level of the roof. Black powder-coated stainless steel railings with stainless cables form a secure balustrade that compliments the aesthetic of the home. Track lighting on top of the feature wall and underneath each step enable homeowners to enjoy the roof into the evening.
Avid gardeners, the homeowners grow trees and shrubs from saplings on the upper-level tree deck for several years in order to donate the grown trees to local nonprofits.
