COMMONWEALTH ROOFTOP DECK AND GARDEN
With a striking view of the iconic Prudential Building, this rooftop deck and garden blends urban sophistication with natural serenity. Designed for year-round enjoyment, it boasts a hot tub and outdoor kitchen. Two green roofs and custom planters are home to hand-picked, biodiverse, and pollinator-friendly plantings from Emory Knoll Farms, creating a haven for butterflies. The inclusion of traditional sedum provides a resilient option that adapts to the changing weather patterns of New England.
Dating back to the 1800’s, the building has unique elements such as slate roofing, copper flashing, and a historic turret. As such, the successful installation of the hot tub required a critical eye as well as collaboration with a structural engineer to ensure our deck construction provided robust support. Privacy is assured by a four-foot screen wall with copper backsplash seamlessly incorporating elements of the building's architecture. Custom copper edging surrounding the green roof areas harmonizes with the building's aesthetic, completing this urban retreat's authentic design.
